About the School

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kolazhy, Thrissur, a Vidyalaya with a difference, has carved a niche for itself in the field of education. The Vidyalaya had a humble beginning in the year 1979. A group of dedicated devotees of Chinmaya Mission Educational and Cultural Trust, Thrissur, is working behind every activity of the Vidyalaya. The Vidyalaya became a full-fledged secondary school in 1990. In 1991 the Senior Secondary classes were started. It wais started to perpetuate the ideals of its founder H.H. Swami Chinmayananda and his vision of "catching them young". The Vidyalaya has gained the ISO 9001:2008 in the year 2009 [from December 2009].

The Vidyalaya provides a platform for the holistic growth of the learner. The quality policy of the Vidyalaya is to offer the child a value based and holistic education which paves the way for the integrated development of the physical, mental, intellectual, spiritual aspects of the personality enriched by knowledge of Indian culture, a feeling of patriotism and a universal outlook.

The facilities include airy, ventilated classrooms, fully equipped labs, adequately stocked library, most sophisticated computer systems, digital classrooms, audio-visual room with facilities like LCD projector, OHP, TV, computers, sports and art rooms, an international-standard basketball court, a spacious playground and an auditorium.

The Staff of the Vidyalaya is provided with Orientation Programmes, Yoga, Sanskrit Studies, Satsang, etc., to rejuvenate them. The main emphasis in the nursery and primary section is to make teaching and learning a joyful and stress-free experience for children. On Navarathri day, a special programme "Mathrupooja" is organized in the Vidyalaya followed by an Alumni meet and the high achievers from different streams are honoured.

The students can opt for 2 streams - Science and Commerce - after their 10th with different combinations at the +2 level. The school begins at 08:30 A.M. and ends at 03:00 P.M.

The Vidyalaya has to its credit a sprawling vegetable garden that brought State level recognition. The campus is going green and beautiful with the various medicinal plants, ECO club, energy conservation club, Apan Mithra - the accident management cell, seminars, youth festival, SPICMACAY etc. to interact and learn. The Vermi-compost, which provides manure, is a landmark project started by ECO club. A very active troupe of Scouts and cubs and a company of Guides and Bulbuls is always on the toes to render their services. As part of the school activity, the school has ventured into community services also. The Vidyalaya is a member of Student Empowerment for Environmental Development Project [SEED Project] - a joint venture of Mathrubhumi & Labour India Publications supported by the State Government. This project initiative aims to create awareness among the growing student community on environment and empower them to protect the water, air and soil. The project aims to pave way for a new green culture by assembling High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools and Upper Primary Schools in the State.
