VISION

Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kolazhy, Thrissur, like all Chinmaya Vidyalayas in the country is a School With A Difference (SWAD). By this we mean that we do not merely emphasize on academics though we are in the forefront in that field, but we also enable students to adapt to various situations in life through our Chinmaya Vision Programme (CVP) which aims at the holistic development of the individual by adopting the four-pronged programme of integrated development of the personality, inculcation of patriotism, emphasis on Indian culture along with a universal outlook on life.

Our school curriculum is framed to impart value-based education that aims at both spiritual and intellectual development of the child along with the physical and emotional. Our school is one of the leading schools in Kerala in the field of academics. Students are encouraged to think creatively and originally.

We aim to provide a serene and pristine environment conducive to learning by creating an oasis like place and greenery in the school campus. We have a unique and exclusive herbal garden with about fifty varieties of medicinal plants and we aim to grow more than 100 varieties by the end of 2018. We also have a wonderful collection of flowering plants and an extensive vegetable garden, which provides all the vegetables for the school hostel. Both the herbal and the vegetable garden are tended exclusively by students of class 8 and 9.

Children are exposed to Indian culture and heritage right from the lower class. The students and staff celebrate all festivals in its true spirit. The students and teachers under the guidance of the Principal perform activities associated with the function, dress for the occasion and explain the significance of these functions to the children.

Our children learn to see and appreciate the harmony in Creation by giving due importance to all aspects of environmental education. Students prepare Vermi-compost- an excellent organic fertilizer in addition to gardening. We are also enforcing a ban on plastic and encouraging the use of eco-friendly bags, pouches, plates, glasses etc. It is our vision to impart education through a mixture of Science and Spirituality

Chinmaya Education Movement Aims and Objectives:

  • To offer children a value-based and holistic education which paves the way for the Integrated Development of the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual aspects of the personality, enriched by knowledge of Indian Culture, a feeling of Patriotism and a Universal Outlook.
  • To mould children into young men and women of moral strength who can face the challenges of modern life with a smile and make a difference in the world by their positive contribution.
  • To give a practical and judicious combination of academic excellence, extra-curricular pursuits, character building and personality development.

Chinmaya Vision Programme:

The Chinmaya Vision Programme is what makes the Chinmaya Education Institutions "Schools with a difference". It concretizes Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda's vision of education.

Yathaa drishti tathaa srishti -- As the vision so the world appears to us.

If man's vision is narrow and disturbed, the world also seems filled with strife. If the vision is broad and love-filled, so too his world.

Chinmaya Vision Programme (CVP) was born to enshrine the philosophy of education developed by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda in the heart of every growing child to bring out the best in him or her.

Chinmaya Vision Programme is a comprehensive educational programme for schools which integrates the best in our culture and philosophy of education. It aims at giving children a true vision of life to help them face challenges in a positive dynamic manner and heartily contribute to society.

The child is the focal point of this programme. The programme also embraces the school management, teachers and parents.
Through them, the light of this vision spreads to the society, country, and the world at large.

The Chinmaya Vision Programme can be identified under four heads

1. Integrated Development

It aims at the overall unfoldment and gentle blossoming of the child at the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual levels of his/her personality.

Physical Development
It implies good health and proper growth of children leading to the optimum expression of their overall well-being. It includes physical fitness, nutrition, hygiene, personal grooming, health education, health assessment, prevention of diseases and their treatment.

Mental Development
It aims at making the child an emotionally balanced person. It thereby helps him/her to live in harmony with himself/herself and the world. It includes emotional expansion, handling emotions, handling relationships, gender specific education, mental health assessment and counseling.

Intellectual Development
Man has infinite intellectual potential. Under this head, CVP aims to help the child manifest his / her inherent intellectual capacities and enhance existing ones. It includes; Intellectual kindling, independent thinking, management skills, aesthetics, intellectual assessment and guidance.

Spiritual Development Man is potentially divine. Spiritual Development enables the child to discover his/her inherent divinity and manifest it. It is achieved through value education, value based education, philosophy, meditation techniques, yoga, etc.

2. Indian Culture

Culture is more than just art forms, festivals and rituals. Culture is the very way of life of a race and its thinking, which makes it unique and special. Under this head, the child is given a wide exposure to the various aspects of our culture, cultural awareness and appreciation of the vast literacy, artistic and scientific heritage of India, explaNations of customs and traditions and cultural motivation through hobbies and projects, etc.

3. Patriotism

This vital area of focus includes education in citizenship, civic consciousness, fostering pride in being Indian and vital national concerns such as unity in diversity. It aims at creating dedicated and committed citizens who take real pride in serving the nation..

4. Universal Outlook

Universal Outlook refers to an appreciation, sensitivity and commitment to universal issues. After years of mindless pillage of nature, the world needs to come back to a universal holistic view of life. A universal outlook helps the child view himself/herself as a responsible citizen of the world (including world issues), live in harmony with creation (environment education and the synthesis between science and religion) as well as become aware of being an intrinsic part of the macrocosm.
